After two decades of meticulous planning, construction, and dreaming, Pier Dos finally opened its doors on June 6th, 2024. This long-awaited moment marked the beginning of a new chapter for the waterfront venue, which has been the talk of the town for years. Despite numerous delays, the team behind Pier Dos decided to give the community a sneak peek with a trial soft opening. This allowed patrons to get a taste of what’s to come while the finishing touches were applied to the interior.
For the soft opening, Pier Dos welcomed guests with a limited selection from their menu, available during the evening hours to coincide with beautiful sunsets over the water and the wonderful evening breeze. The venue provided an ideal setting for dinner, combining breathtaking views with a curated dining experience. The atmosphere was both intimate and relaxed, setting the stage for what promises to be one of Bonaire’s top destinations.
Meet the Team Behind Pier Dos
The success of any great restaurant lies in its team, and Pier Dos boasts a remarkable lineup of professionals who bring diverse culinary backgrounds and a shared passion for excellence.
David - The Charming Manager
David, the manager of Pier Dos, hails from the Netherlands and brings with him a unique blend of Dutch charm and professionalism. He has been on the island for a year, originally from Den Bosch. With 16 years of experience in the hospitality industry, David has held various managerial positions, driven by a passion for making people happy through excellent food and service. His journey to Bonaire began as a search for new opportunities, eventually leading him to meet the owners of Pier Dos. Outside of work, David enjoys wakeboarding, spending time on the water, and hosting wine evenings with friends.
Jake - The Talented Chef with Caribbean Roots
Jake, originally from Aruba, embarked on his culinary journey nine years ago, which led him from the Caribbean to the Netherlands. His culinary skills were honed in a Michelin-starred kitchen and within just five years, he quickly rose through the ranks. Jake’s experience includes working as the sous chef at the prestigious A’Dam tower in Amsterdam and later contributing to a renowned chef's table in Aruba. Now, Jake brings his expertise in Mediterranean fusion cuisine to Pier Dos, where he specializes in using locally caught fish and seasonal vegetables to create dishes that are both fresh and flavorful.
João - The Culinary Maestro from Portugal
João, another of the chefs at Pier Dos, brings a wealth of international experience to the kitchen. Originally from Portugal, João’s culinary journey has taken him from Europe to the Middle East and now to Bonaire. His dishes are a fusion of traditional Portuguese influences and Mediterranean finesse, reflecting the diverse flavors and techniques he has absorbed throughout his career. João’s creativity and precision are evident in every dish, making each meal a masterpiece that showcases his professional, yet friendly, approach.

The team supports local businesses by sourcing ingredients such as bread and coffee from nearby suppliers. Currently open for Lunch and Dinner , Pier Dos offers a variety of dishes that cater to diverse tastes, ensuring that every guest finds something to enjoy.

A Work in Progress
The Pier Dos team has managed to create a memorable dining experience. From only offering dinner at the slow opening, they are now open for lunch and dinner from 11 am – 11 pm.
Pier Dos is poised to become Bonaire’s top spot for a unique culinary adventure at one of the best locations on the island.
